Iraq Petroleum – A success story for 2009!

Comprehensive 3 day agenda offered powerful keynote presentations, a range of sessions covering the key-up–to-the–minute issues, interactive discussion and lively panel debates.
Strategy focus of the Conference explored the commercial business development issues impacting the Iraqi future exploration and development for corporate players and the Iraqi state companies involved in the development of the Iraqi oil and gas industry.

We were able to listen to:

Powerful keynote presentations on opportunities for foreign investment in Iraq’s Energy Industry.
With 31 speakers, the Iraq Petroleum 09 gathered the Iraqi government officials, the MPs and the major industry players to discuss the role of Iraq as a factor in global energy security and the recent experience of the licensing round.



H.E. Thamir Ghadhaban
, The Chairman of the Advisory Commission,  Iraq's Prime Minister's Office, spoke about Iraq's crude oil production and it’s way ahead. He confirmed the country as a whole and the Ministry of Oil in particular is embarking on a substantial programme to build up Iraq's crude oil production capacity in cooperation with the international companies.



Dr Ali Al Dabbagh
, the Iraqi Government Spokesperson addressed the political and security situation in Iraq. He discussed the current situation in Iraq at the forefront of attention for all Iraqis as well as the international community at large and it’s the concern for all who look to invest and work in Iraq.


Svein Roar Engelsen
, Vice President , Business Development Iraq , Statoil addressed the improved security situation in Iraq calling it ‘the beginning
of a new era’.

Iraq Petroleum 09 Workshop: “Navigating the Legal Issues of Iraq's Petroleum Opportunities” was once again a huge success with the lively debate and the interactive discussion. It focused on the most critical areas , upstream investment arrangements , contract options for Iraq , oil field service contractor arrangements , and downstream investment arrangements
