Phillip Marsham is an experienced shipping and logistics industry professional with 40 years of experience demonstrated in senior positions and assignments in the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. His career started by quickly climbing all officer rungs of the British Merchant Navy ladder on a wide array of different cargo ships, supply vessels, bulkers and oil tankers of various UK companies before gaining his Master’s Certificate. After his last stint on board, in 1990 he was appointed Port Captain in Lagos, Nigeria for Maersk, a position held through 1997 when he moved as General Manager in Port Harcourt, playing a key role in developing the local Terminals supporting containerised, anchor handling and supply vessels and oil and gas logistical activities . Subsequently, on behalf of Maersk Line, he became CEO of Commercial, Oil and Gas Logistics and Terminal Activities in Angola, before moving onto heading the Maersk Organisations in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, the Horn of Africa and Pakistan/Afghanistan. In 2012, he joined ICTSI and since then he has taken over CEO roles in Croatia and Iraq. Phillip, as CEO of Basra Gateway Terminal in Umm Qasr, has been responsible for developing a 250 million USD investment in Umm Qasr port, ensuring a state of the art terminal, to International standards to support the growth in the Oil and gas sector as well as commercial cargo activities.
