Werner Schmidt was appointed Managing Director and Head of Structured Trade & Export Finance Germany for Deutsche Bank in April 2011. He re-joined Deutsche Bank from UniCredit Group where his most recent appointment was Regional Head of Financial Institutions for Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Throughout his 37 years of experience within the banking industry he has performed senior roles in corporate and institutional client coverage, investment banking and structured trade and export finance in Europe and Asia. Among other assignments, Werner was responsible for UniCredit Bank AG’s (HVB) Structured Trade and Export Finance business, including origination, structuring, distribution and loan administration and agency functions. He is a member of the supervisory board of AKA Bank, a specialised German export finance institution and Chairman of the Export Finance Working Committee at the Association of German Banks (BdB).
