Held in London between 8-10 June 2015, the 9th edition of Iraq Petroleum Conference was a huge success, welcoming over 400 senior oil and gas industry leaders gathered from across the globe to explore Iraq’s role as a major oil and gas player. This year’s edition of the series was the largest one so far and not only reflected determination from all sides, but also united the global oil and gas industry representatives under one roof, laying the foundation for long term investment in the Iraqi oil and gas industry.
The Conference debuted with the legal workshop, on the 8th of June, discussing the legal stream focused on Iraq’s oil and gas legal framework and the possible reforms to the laws and contracts, and was followed by a 2-day conference confirming the role of Iraq as a major player on the global oil and gas arena.
We would like to thank our distinguished speakers and delegates for contributing to the success of the Conference and we look forward to you joining us at the Iraq Petroleum 2016, between 23-25 of May, in London, UK.
Keynote Speech delivered by H.E. Adil Abudlmahdi, Iraqi Oil Minister’s Representative
“Thanking CWC Iraq Petroleum […] Iraq has one of the world’s richest endowment of oil […] today`s production is about 3.8 million barrels per day, and it is expected to be around (5.5 to 6) million barrels per day, over the current decade. Starting from 2011 up to date, Payment in crude oil valued nearly (36) billion dollars was made as recovery cost to the international companies that are engaged in the technical service contracts activities”
MP Andrea Leadsom, Minister of State at the Department of Energy & Climate Change, UK Government
UK aims to be Iraq’s “partner of choice” […] global oil demand will grow by 14 million barrels a day to reach a total of 104 million barrels a day by 2040 […] Iraq can meet “the highest proportion” of that expected growth than any other country in the world”.
“Iraq possesses all necessary ingredients for economic development and growth, provided that a stable and appropriate political and security environment is provided. And this is something we work hard to achieve, to eventually make Iraq an effective and influential international energy player and a wide field for international investments”
